The Ypres Castle Inn is a free house, not tied to any one brewery and we pride ourselves on stocking the finest local cask ales available.

We condition the casks on site and have received several awards for our beer keeping skills. We are independantly assessed by Cask Marque.

Harveys Sussex Best Bitter

A superbly balanced session bitter with a prominent hop character. Winner of the Champion Best Bitter of Britain title at CAMRA’s Great British Beers Festival in 2005 and 2006. First brewed as recently as 1955.

Larkins Best Bitter
Established in 1986, Larkins Brewery was founded by the Dockerty family, who bought the plant from the former Royal Tunbridge Wells Brewery. Since the move to Larkins Farm in 1987, the production of three regular brews and Porter in the winter months has steadily increased. Larkins supplies around 70 free houses within a radius of 20 miles.

Old Dairy Gold Top
A zesty aroma with a refreshing and rounded aftertaste – you cud even prefer it to lager! [sic]

Old Dairy Snow Top Winter Warmer

Contains Challenger, East Kent Goldings and Bramling Cross hops. It is not too bitter, with malty depth, and a complex fruitiness – a nourishing beer to savour on the colder nights.

A rich dark bitter that has a chewy toffee caramel body with chocolate undertones and a fruity bite from the Bramling Cross hops

Adnams Southwold Bitter

Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness.
Brewed with the finest East Anglian malted barley, sourced locally to the brewery.

A distinct plum aroma, with cherry, rosemary and chocolate notes. With sweet fruit and firm tannins, the wine has cassis, vanilla and spiced, dark berry fruit on the palate, with a long finish.

The area around Griffith is internationally noted for producing some of the best Botrytis affected wines. Luscious, honeyed flavours of peach and apricot are well balanced by natural acidity.
